Thyristor configuration of medium frequency power supply

The thyristors of medium frequency power supply are divided into rectifier thyristors and inverter thyristors. Generally, rectifier thyristors are KP type (ordinary reverse blocking type), and inverter thyristors are KK and KA type (fast reverse blocking type).

Thyristors are distinguished by the rated on-state current and withstand voltage value to distinguish the model and size. For example, the KP thyristor model: KP500A/1000V indicates that the thyristor is a rectifier thyristor, 500A indicates the rated on-state current, and 1000V indicates the withstand voltage value. The higher the rated on-state current and withstand voltage value, the larger the thyristor specification, and the power of the supporting equipment is generally larger.

Inverter thyristors use different types of thyristors according to the frequency of the medium frequency power supply, and use KK or KA thyristors respectively. KK thyristors are generally used for frequencies between 500-2500Hz, and KA thyristors are generally used for frequencies above 2500Hz. KK thyristors are generally connected in single silicon, while KA thyristors are generally connected in double silicon.
